Beach lifeguarding has specific qualification, fitness and recruitment requirements. Check that you're working towards the right standard before application season arrives.
RNLI beach lifeguards need an accepted beach or surf lifeguard qualification.
Recruitment includes timed pool swimming, underwater swimming and a beach run.
Applicants under 18 also require parent or guardian permission.
Applicants are assessed to ensure they can safely perform the role.
Lifeguarding involves prevention, public contact and working closely with the rest of the team.
