ABOUT SURF GOWER

Built for Gower. Built for the people who surf it.

Surf Gower is an independent project bringing together surf information, beach guides, safety advice, local businesses and the people who make Gower's surf community what it is.

01 Useful local information
02 Support local businesses
03 Build a real community

One Place for Surfing Gower.

Gower has incredible beaches, surf schools, local businesses, history, coastal culture and some brilliant people involved in surfing, but the information around it can be scattered across dozens of different websites and social media pages.

Surf Gower is being built to bring more of that together in one place, making it easier to explore the coastline, understand the surf, find local businesses and discover what is happening around Gower.

The aim is not to become another generic tourism directory. Surf Gower should feel useful, local and connected to the people who actually spend time here.

Good Local Information Should Be Easier to Find.

Whether you're learning, travelling to Gower or already surfing here regularly, finding useful information shouldn't mean jumping between ten different websites.

01 INFORMATION

Too Scattered

Surf guides, forecasts, lessons, hire, webcams, accommodation and local businesses can all live on completely different platforms.

02 LOCAL KNOWLEDGE

Hard to Find

Some of the most useful information comes from the people who actually spend time on these beaches and in the water.

03 COMMUNITY

Too Disconnected

Surfers, photographers, surf schools, campsites, cafés and independent businesses are often spread across completely separate communities online.

THE IDEA

More Than a Surf Directory.

Surf Gower is being developed as a wider home for surfing and coastal life around Gower, Swansea and Mumbles.

BEACHES Detailed beach and surf guides
CONDITIONS Forecasts, webcams and updates
LEARN Surf schools, lessons and hire
STAY Accommodation and camping
LOCAL Independent businesses and places to visit
COMMUNITY Posts, photos, discussions and stories

Surf Gower Shouldn't Be Built by One Voice.

A big part of the idea is eventually allowing the people who actually surf, photograph, work and spend time around Gower to contribute to the site.

That could include local surf reports, photographs, beach updates, stories, articles, campsite recommendations, equipment discussions and useful advice for people learning to surf.

The long-term aim is for individual beach pages to feel alive rather than simply being static guides.

Less Searching. More Looking at the Sea.

One of the ideas being explored is bringing useful Gower webcams together so surfers can quickly scan what's happening without searching across multiple sites.

LIVE / STATUS
THE GOAL

Working Webcams. Clearly Marked.

If a webcam is working, it should be easy to find. If it's offline, that should be obvious too.

The idea is simple: give surfers one place where they can quickly get a feel for what different parts of Gower look like before travelling.

Useful Information Without Giving Everything Away.

Surf Gower should help people enjoy the coastline responsibly without turning every quiet corner into something that needs to be advertised.

Respect the Water

Understand local hazards, surf within your ability and never underestimate changing conditions.

Respect the Lineup

Surf etiquette and consideration for other water users matter wherever you paddle out.

Respect Local Spots

Surf Gower isn't being built as a database of every hidden break, quiet parking space and secret access path.

Respect Gower

Look after the beaches, leave places as you found them and support the communities around them.

Support the People Behind Gower.

Surf Gower is also about making it easier to discover the independent businesses and organisations around the peninsula.

Surf schools, instructors, cafés, campsites, accommodation providers, photographers, surf shops and other independent businesses all form part of the Gower experience.

Daniel, founder of Surf Gower
FOUNDER • SURF GOWER

Hi, I'm Daniel.

I'm the person behind Surf Gower, and I'm building it because I think there is room for something better for this coastline.

I want Surf Gower to become genuinely useful rather than another website that simply lists beaches and disappears into Google.

The site is still growing, which means this is also the perfect time for local surfers, photographers, businesses, surf schools and people who know Gower to help shape where it goes.

If you've got an idea, a story, some photographs, local knowledge, feedback or think there is something Surf Gower should be doing, I'd genuinely like to hear from you.
